Greig’s restaurant was started by one of the most well known restaurateurs of the 50s, Mr. Alistair Greig. He had a great reputation for serving the best steaks in London. Even after more than half a century, his quality steaks along with British food is hot favorite item in London. It is situated in the main part of Mayfair near Berkeley Square.
Greig used to prepare his steak by using a traditional coal grill, which was one of the best kept culinary secret in London, where there is cut throat competition for eatables. Even today, the restaurant uses the English and Scottish steaks supplied by the same family butcher. Greig’s restaurant is one of the top restaurants in Central London.
Those who are regular customers to this restaurant are offered four menus. They are known as lunch, pre-theatre, appetizer & a la carte. As a starter they offer avocado vinaigrette and a mixed salad. The main course will start with cottage pie, rump steak and baby chicken and this is followed by chocolate mousse or crème caramel.
There are varieties of wine which you can select from their menu list. The wine cellar of Greig contains 3000 bottles of wine during anytime of the day, which also includes 120 different Bordeaux, Champagne and Ports wines. There are also few selected wines of the world available in their restaurants.
You can get fixed lunch and dinner at the price of £ 17.95 with single course, £ 20.95 for 2 courses and £ 23.95 for 3 courses. If you prefer to select your lunch from the menu then the average cost for single person may come around £ 20.00 and for dinner will cost around £ 36.00.
The timings of the restaurant during weekdays including Saturday are 12.00 to 14.30 hours and again from 18.00 to 23.00 hours. During Sundays the restaurant timings are 12.00 to 14.30 hours and in the evenings it is 16.00 to 22.00 hours.
Greig’s restaurant was completely refurbished during the year 2003 and it continued till early 2005. Now there are three dining rooms, which can cater for 8 to 10 guests at the Wine Room, 16 to 18 guests at the Oak Room and 20 to 40 guests at the Main Room.
