
Fulham Football Club rank one of the oldest professional clubs in London. Founded in 1879, Fulham celebrated successful 125th anniversary in 2004. Fulham is proud to stand as a top tier club in the Premier League. The club has given birth to several renowned British football players like George Cohen, Rodney Marsh, Alan Mullery and Johnny Haynes. Major contribution in the formation of Fulham Club includes members of the church on star road, West Kensington. In 1949, Fulham; s dream turned into reality when they were promoted to first division. Along with success also came responsibility to compete with other football clubs who got excellent players.
After this, several years Fulham never showed extra ordinary performance. In 1958, gracefully they found some pace and reached semi-finals. Obviously, this gave moral boost and confidence, which they needed desperately. Another important move was promotion to the top tier football club. Graham Leggat made staggering 277 appearances and netted 134 goals placed him between top five scorers. Season ended acquiring 10th position, which was the highest for Fulham in Division 1. During this, Craven Cottage was able enough to pull 30,000 plus crowds.
In 50’s John Haynes, entry was the most welcome note for the club. Haynes was extra dedicated towards Fulham and spend whole football career. In his presence total 658 appearances were made and until 1991 held the record of top scorer. In 70’s some big signings along with Bobby Moore and Allan Mullery took place. This had the great impact in 1975. The club achieved their first FA Cup Final against West Ham. In addition, club was able to bag Anglo-Scottish Cup but lost to Middleborough. In 80’s, club again saw rock bottom picture. Manager Bobby Campbell sacked. His successor Malcolm Macdonald restructured the club. However, after some days Fulham’s financial crisis became a big headache. In 1997, club was able to balance and came out of the financial instability. Businessperson Mohammed-Al-Fayed gave good security to the club. Those years people saw clubs momentum growing, later years brought some harmony in the club. Fulham is a football club who had to fight hard to acquire its place in the league.
