
Crystal Palace also known The Eagles, founded in 1905, September 10 by Crystal Palace workers play in the Premier League. Selhurst Park is the place where team plays its home matches since 1924. Currently, the club competes in the second tier position. In 1969-70, the club attained top division in English Football and their first major final in 1990. The most recent achievement of the Crystal Palace Football Cup is 1988-89, when they succeeded in finishing at third place in the second division and promoted to the first. In 1990-91 FA Cup final. They finished at third division against Manchester United. Since then, Crystal Palace witnessed promotions on several occasions. In 1992-93 club got the pride of founder member of the FA Premier League. Again, 2004-05 they registered relegation. In July 2000, club declared bankrupt.
The club also went in administration, first in 1988 and ended in 2000 with the Simon Jordan’s purchase. His tenure also ended in 2010 and witnessed acquisition by the CPFC 2010 Consortium by Steve Parish, proprietor of Tag Worldwide marketing agency. To celebrate centenary in 2005, the club made appeal to people and fans to vote for ‘Centenary XI’. The Centenary comprises those players whom the palace supporters recognize as their favorites over the history. Along with great players, some notable people were Peter Simpson, Dong Rogers, Johny Bryne and John Jackson.
Selhurst Park is the current ground of the club. It has capacity of 26,309 seats located in South Norwood, suburb of London. Crystal Palace National Sports Center is the first home of the club. In 1905, owners strongly felt the need of a professional club to play here which lead to the formation of this club. Earlier, it was the home of the original crystal palace club since 1861. From 1895-1914, also hosted the FA Cup final along with other sports.
